Full Bio

I have lived in New Mexico for over 22 years, thus I consider it my home. Prior to moving as a young teenager, I lived in Wyoming, Idaho, Washington and even overseas in Holland, where I learned to speak Dutch. I was exposed to different cultures at a young age, which sparked my curiosity and deep love of travel and exploration. I received both my Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts at the University of New Mexico, in 2011 and 2018 respectively. Prior to becoming licensed, I worked with both foster/treatment foster children and adolescents experiencing a variety of emotional disturbances and severe trauma.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of New Mexico. My practice has centered around eating disorder treatment as well as general practice, serving a variety of populations, age groups, and mental health struggles. I have experience working with individuals, couples and families. Under these umbrellas of care, I have developed skill particularly with eating disorders, body dysmorphia, womens issues, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma/grief and identity issues. I am certified in Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) and currently training in somatic experiencing and hope to obtain my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certification (SEP).

In the short of things, I consider myself to be an eclectic counselor. I meet each client where they are at, thus my attunement and approach changes based on a clients presenting problems, personality and needs. More specifically, I root myself in a humanistic approach. I believe one of the cornerstones of therapy is a truly therapeutic and connected relationship. Trust, vulnerability, compassion, genuineness and humanness, come together to create an essential part of therapy. I also connect with psychodynamic perspectives. I implement a lot of insight building through exploration of deeper roots or problems to bring on self-awareness. We can learn to un-learn so much just through the corrective experience of being in the therapy room. I also incorporate emotion-focused work, as well as skills through CBT and DBT.

A little about me:
I am Caucasian, a cisgender woman and I am married. I have two amazing dogs named Atlas and Maple, both who I walk regularly. I love the outdoors and any sort of adventure including hiking, swimming in natural hot springs and rivers, watching the sunrise and set, and gazing at the moon. I am an avid runner. I love music, crime podcasts, poetry, art and design. I love learning, researching and I am on a constant hunt to find meaning in life. I love to laugh, feel emotions and be present in experiences.
