Full Bio

Hi there! My name is Kyleigh Rivera (she/her/hers). I am a recent graduate from Highlands University of New Mexico where I obtained my Master of Art’s degree in clinical mental health counseling.

I have a colorful work history that led me to arrive in the counseling field. I have been a dry cleaner, landscaper, waitress, prep-cook, museum assistant, construction photographer, and most importantly a teen mentor at Taos Pueblo. It was there as a teen mentor that I discovered my calling was being with people while they uncover their hopes, dreams, passions, strengths, fears, and inner self. I grew up here in New Mexico and am keenly aware of our community’s values, beauty, struggles, and uniqueness.

I work from an Existential theoretical orientation from which I recognize that all humans manage anxiety, isolation, and seek meaning in life. I utilize expressive arts, creativity, sand-play, mindfulness, and tenets of Poylvagal theory to structure my work. I view each individual client as having their own story to tell, their own journey, and their own strengths to achieve whole wellness.
