About Deanna
(she/her)

Picture
I truly believe connection is what helps people heal and thrive. I strive to create a strong and safe therapeutic relationship in which individuals can work toward the goals they have for all aspects of their lives.

I love when people can see all their strengths and use them to learn and grow. As your counselor, I will trust you, believe in you, care for you and listen to you.

Full Bio

I currently work full-time as a Crossroads Counselor in Albuquerque Public Schools. I have been with APS over 24 years where I also served as a high school English teacher and school counselor. I also worked two years as a substance use prevention and intervention counselor and served as a school counselor intern supervisor.

I am also licensed as mental health counselor (LPCC). I have experience working with adolescence and young adults in the personal, social, emotional and academic areas of their lives.
I love the dichotomous nature of adolescents; sometimes kid - sometimes adult, sometimes happy go lucky - sometimes angry and full of angst, sometimes fun and funny - sometimes serious and somber. Basically, I think adolescents are pretty cool people! I truly enjoy walking alongside them as they journey through the transition from child to adult.

I was born and raised in New Mexico. Go Lobos! I enjoy hanging out with my family, reading, baking,
exercising and walking on the mesa with our family dog, Valentine. I love tacos, country music and
quotes!
