I have always been fascinated by people's journeys and the little moments that have led them to where they are.

We all have a story, and I love seeing people connect their past to their present to create a better and healthier future

Full Bio

Hi! My name is Ashley Salazar, and I graduated with my Master of Arts in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling at New Mexico Highlands University in 2024.

I have been raised in New Mexico and am grateful to have grown up with a deep sense of community. I graduated with my Bachelor's from UNM with a concentration in Sociology and Communications. I have spent my adult life primarily working with adolescents in the juvenile justice system and currently work as a School Counselor during the day. I love working with teenagers and being a safe place for them to process the difficulty that "growing up" can be. I am honored to be a trusted person so many of us desperately needed when we were growing up.

I enjoy working with women in their 20's and 30's as they navigate life. Throughout my Master's program I have worked with women facing eating disorders, body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship difficulties, and crisis of faith and spiritual identity.

I am passionate about healing and believe that we are on a lifelong journey of evolving into who we were created to be. As a counselor, I believe in a holistic approach utilizing methods from Gestalt, Adlerian, and Existential counseling theories. I believe that as humans we are meant to be whole and therefore it is important to heal any area that is holding us back from living our best lives. I view being a counselor as a sacred honor to be a small part of one's journey to healing and wholeness.

I am happiest when spending time with my family or when I am lost in a good book and hanging out at home with my dogs and partner. I love traveling, making new memories and love to look at life as an adventure. I am a big believer in the healing power of a good nap, a good cry, or a day spent doing nothing. The most important things to me are my faith, my family, and my friends who have become family, and I am grateful for the power of love, connection and healing in all relationships.
