About Andres
(he/him)

Picture
I am endlessly curious and bring that curiosity to my work with clients in an effort to better understand them as well as to collaborate with them on finding the right tools and strategies to help them heal, connect with their values, and live in alignment with those values.

I am incredibly fascinated by neuroscience and the brain’s natural ability to reshape and heal itself which has inspired me to build my practice around science, research, and evidence-based approaches.

I believe laughter is medicine.  And while counseling is serious and brings with it many intense emotions I also like to bring humor and laughter to my clients’ lives.

Full Bio

I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of New Mexico.  I have worked as a mental health counselor since 2013 and have experience with a wide variety of clients and populations having worked with groups, families, romantic relationships, and individuals. I have particular expertise in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and relationship issues. I have specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) all of which greatly inform my clinical practice.

A little about me. I am latino, a cisgender man, and a husband. I am the proud owner of a kindhearted canine and a sophisticated feline. I am a traveler and love to experience the world and all it has to offer, teach me, and feed me!  At the same time, I am a proud New Mexican and it will always be home. I think cat videos are hilarious. I am what some might call a coffee snob and not only like to drink it but enjoy learning to brew it in all its various forms.  I am an avid reader and lover of all things nerdy. I enjoy being active and actually like exercising.
