About Lexy
(she/her)

Picture
I believe every person is inherently valuable, capable of change, and deserving of support in their mental health journey.

I recognize that counseling can feel vulnerable sometimes, so I view my responsibility as creating an environment where clients feel safe, empowered, and equipped to make the changes they want to see in their lives.

Together, we can create an individualized plan—based on your personal values and goals—to move toward healing. You can count on my presence, empathy, and compassion every step of the way.

Full Bio

Hi, my name is Lexy, and I am a graduate student at the University of New Mexico working toward my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Grand Canyon University.

My counseling approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and infused with cognitive
behavioral therapy (CBT). In session, this looks like recognizing clients as the experts of their own lives and creating a collaborative therapeutic alliance where clients lead the way. Next, I take whatever steps I can to create a safe, supportive space to explore painful experiences while focusing on strengths and skill-building. Finally, the guiding philosophy of CBT investigates the connections between emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to paint a full picture of the client and increase self-awareness along the journey.

My goal is to make you feel heard and empowered
when it comes to your mental health. In my clinical work so far, I have walked with clients in areas including anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, as well as life transitions and religion and spirituality.

I am a Latina woman. Born right here in Albuquerque, I am honored to support the mental health
needs of the community that raised me. Most days, I can be found reading, writing, or watching sports with my husband. I try to practice mindfulness by keeping an eye out for the simple joys in life, especially when they can be found in unexpected places!
